MBTI Step II Personality Assessment:
Loving God and Others Through Understanding Yourself
with Scott Wildey
*Please note: This workshop requires a pre-conference online assessment that costs $20. You can sign up when you register for the conference or sign up here.*
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is the most accurate, in-depth, and widely used personality tool in the world. Personality frames our perceptions, interests, needs, values, and motivation. The MBTI Step II personalizes the standard four-letter MBTI within forty facets explaining individual expression of personality type. In this workshop you will learn your specific “in-preference” facets, as well as your unique “out-of-preference” personality characteristics. The MBTI Step II will also help you develop a deeper sense of self and group awareness, team-building, emotional intelligence, and a constructive use of conflict.
Scott Wildey, MDiv, began volunteering in pastor Matt’s High School ministry in 1997 and was a part of the original group that began Flood Church in 2000. In 2003 Scott joined the Flood staff and has served as an associate pastor overseeing various ministries including engaged, marrieds, groups, and more recently began the podcast, “One Another: for Group Leaders.” Scott is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and has Spiritual Direction certificates from both Theodyssey (2011) and The Transforming Center (2020). Scott’s is married to Linsey, a Spiritual Director, and they have two amazing kids: Hunter (12), and Piper (10).
Roadmap: Strengthening Your Soul by Understanding the Journey of Faith
with Matt Hammett
The image of the Christian life as a journey captures our experience of following Jesus like few others. Journeys involve movement, action, stops and starts, detours, delays, and trips into the unknown. Many believers today get bored, feel stuck or get lost in their spiritual journey. Some have dropped out altogether. We grow by understanding the stages of spiritual development and the types of ministry and practices that help us at each stage of our journeys.
Matt Hammett is the founder and lead pastor of Flood Church in San Diego, with campuses in both central and north county. Flood was born in 2000 out of Matt’s passion for young people and his vision to help emerging generations become followers of Jesus who live integrated lives of faith, community, and action in a creative and diverse worship environment. Originally from California’s Bay Area, Matt is a ride or die fan of the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers. He and his wife Roxanne have four kids, three dogs, and one very patient cat.
Next Door and Beyond
with Kathy Pham
Loving our neighbors is easy, right? We can simply log in to “Next Door, the neighborhood hub” to see the latest news and needs of our community. Yet when we look at the parable of the Good Samaritan, what does Jesus mean when he calls us to “go and DO likewise”?
Kathy Pham is the Youth Spiritual Development Director for UrbanLife Ministries Inc. serving students, volunteers, and staff in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego, CA – where she has lived since 2009. Some of Kathy’s passions include youth transformation, her dog Atticus, making delicious food, and the latest trends. Kathy is down for finding the best bargains, Enneagram chats, strategic planning and execution, and banana eating races – not in that particular order.
From Reacting to Responding: Spiritual Habits to Cultivate Compassion
with Grace Wilkinson
Engage in spiritual habits that help us grow from reactors to responders. Many of us are quick to react to the people and events in our lives in ways that are unhelpful and unloving. Growing in spiritual maturity means growing in our ability to respond in ways that are thoughtful, calm, and loving. Together, we will learn how incorporating spiritual habits into our daily lives can help us move from reaction to responsiveness and allow us to grow in love, mercy, and compassion for ourselves and those around us.
Grace joined the Flood team in 2012 as a Graduate Intern, while finishing her Masters of Divinity at Bethel Seminary. She currently serves as our Communications Pastor, overseeing all communication platforms to celebrate and spread Flood’s vision of being a Christ-centered movement of hope & healing, and assisting in the direction and planning for preaching and message series. When she’s not writing, Grace enjoys Netflix marathons, getting lost in a good book, and cheering on Oregon Ducks football.
Practice in Stillness & Prayer
with Dana & Samson Jeyakumar
The inevitably hectic nature of our lives creates the assumption that finding stillness before God is out of our reach. Stillness is an attained state of being and does not always come naturally. Interested in deepening your time with God? Discover practical ways to slow down and find meaningful meditation in Christ. In this workshop, we will actively practice stillness and prayer in a guided meditation through worship & music therapy.
Samson is the Director of Prayer and Worship at Flood. He works specifically in discipling people with an understanding of how the Holy Spirit works to equip believers for the challenges in life. Dana is a board-certified music therapist that has practiced guided meditation with a wide variety of populations. They have been doing ministry together for over 5 years and love teaching others to grow deeper in prayer & worship.
