Opening Doors for a New Generation
Grace and peace to you! The Coronavirus pandemic has lasted longer and impacted our families and communities more deeply than anyone could have predicted. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, I see God’s power and provision all around. We’re humbled by the loving, selfless acts of Christ-centered hope and healing happening in our community. I’m reminded of the generosity we see modeled by the early church in Acts 2:42-47, as they were living in the midst of difficult circumstances. As we seek creative ways to gather in person, I see this same generosity alive and well in our church stretched across San Diego and beyond!
On October 22, we will celebrate 20 years as a church! From our humble beginnings in a carpeted church gymnasium, to being a mobile church at Kearny High School for 14 ½ years, to the unexpected challenges and opportunities of being online-only for the past 7 months, our vision has remained the same. We want to be a community where people experience transformational discipleship, becoming more like Jesus for the sake of others, and are equipped and encouraged to be a movement of Christ’s hope and healing in our world. We want to build a home for generations of Jesus followers to live integrated lives of faith, community, and action. Thanks to your faithfulness, we are on our way to making this vision a reality!
Since launching our HOME campaign in March 2019, we’ve raised $2.7 million dollars, hired a team of project managers, architects, and contractors, submitted building plans to the City of San Diego, completed demolition, and begun pre-permit work on the future home for our San Diego Campus and ministry headquarters. God has been so faithful! I am more convinced than ever that God will use our new church home to further His hope and healing in and through Flood. This season has also reinforced how vital it is for our church to own our ministry space and make the best decisions for our faith community.
This journey will continue to require unparalleled God-dependence, as we surrender our desires into God’s unequaled goodness and care. To the more than 200 of you who made a pledge 18 months ago and have been faithfully fulfilling it, thank you! We wouldn’t be here without you. For those who haven’t made a pledge yet, I ask you to join those faithful givers and pledge a financial commitment over the next 18 months to our new building. We also welcome any changes to existing pledges or gifts that are over and above your pledge. I understand that this may be a financially uncertain time for you, which is why we ask not for equal giving, but equal sacrifice. As Jesus taught us, the gift of the widow’s mite (Luke 21:1-4) is precious in God’s sight!
Take a look this web page to learn about what we’ve accomplished and what’s in store for our next chapter. We can’t do this without you. Thank you for being a part of Flood Church!
Grateful to be on this journey together,
All of this is possible because of your faithful and consistent giving. Transforming this building into our home will require significant investment from all of us. If you want to be a part of this exciting new chapter in the life of our church, please consider making a pledge.
