Matt’s Blog: February Church Update

Flood Family,

I hope the new year is treating you well. A few weeks ago, we gathered together as a church for our quarterly Flood Family Meetings after each of our Sunday gatherings. I always enjoy connecting during these times and wanted to share some of the important news that was shared in case you missed it. Below are some highlights. We look forward to the exciting year ahead for our community!

Staffing Update
We continue to be grateful for the leadership and energy brought by our new Young Adult Pastor, Damean Easter, and Worship & Prayer Director, Samson Jayakumar. You also may have noticed Damean and Grace (and others) preaching more frequently. While Matt is still our primary communicator and Lead Pastor, we are excited to hear from additional voices through a preaching team approach. Lastly, we are commissioning our former Graduate Intern, Kaitlyn Herrscher, today, Sunday February 23, as she leaves to serve as a missionary with Flood Church in Blantyre, Malawi in March.

Building Update
Our building plans were submitted to the city in December, and we are eagerly waiting to hear their remarks on our proposal. So far we have heard back on the mechanical and structural aspects of the plans and received positive responses, which is great news! Unfortunately, the city planning office is facing problems with their own building, which have created delays that could extend our move-in date to November 2020. Please continue to pray for the Lord’s favor in this process! Many gave generously to the building in December. If you would like to participate and/or make a financial pledge, please do so at

Church Finance Update
We ended 2019 with our largest month of giving in the history of our church! We are grateful for the many who give faithfully to the work of the Lord at Flood. Due to the uniqueness of the building campaign, giving to the General Fund is down about 10%. Please remember to tithe to the General Fund first and give additionally to the HOME Campaign as you’re able. This ensures our day-to-day ministry needs are able to be met. Also, as a tangible step in trusting God and practice of generosity, we are asking everyone to participate in our 1st & 10 Giving Challenge. On Sunday, March 1st, we invite you to bring a 10% tithe of monthly income with you to worship.

Flood Family Rally
We are excited that registration for our annual all-church conference is now open! The Flood Family Rally is an opportunity for us to gather around what matters most. This year, we are bringing back Pastor Rich Villodas from Queens, New York. There will be main sessions, workshops and small group time all designed to help you grow in your faith. There are also special tracks designed for kids and youth. The kids track is a day camp experience that your little ones will not want to miss! Early bird pricing is available now until March 1.
