What is an Impact Team?

An Impact Team is a focused team led by Flood Church members who are unleashed to “impact the world,” using a shared interest or common skill to reach out to the people in their areas of influence. Impact teams are motivated by the gospel of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit of God, and working towards the glory of God.

The guiding objectives of Flood Impact Teams are:

+ Evangelism
+ Compassion and Justice
+ Leadership Development
+ Multiplication

Our vision is to see Impact Teams transforming every aspect of society. From family life to the arts, to government and education, to community development and the environment, we desire to see people from our church actively involved and engaged in missional service around the world. Each team revolves around a specific interest or skill, strategizing ways to bless others through that interest or skill.

Where do impact teams serve?

Though led by active Flood Church members, the service opportunities created are open to any and all people interested in participating. Following the strategy outlined in Acts 1:8, where Christ says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” our church’s desire is to be a witness for Christ in strategic locations around the world. Acknowledging that many people have a variety of passions for different cultures and place in the world, our church has chosen strategic locations to leverage our influence and maximize our impact. In this regard, our desire is to see focused teams dedicated to impacting one or more of the following areas:

+ Flood Church
+ Kearny High School
+ Linda Vista, a community within San Diego, home to Kearny High School
+ City of San Diego
+ Tijuana, Mexico
+ Lilongwe, Malawi, Africa
+ Lira, Uganda, Africa
+ Haiti

Who Can Lead an Impact Team?

In order to apply to lead an Impact Team, you must:

+ possess an actively growing relationship with Jesus Christ
+ be an active member of the Flood Church community (attend Sunday worship gatherings, and participate in a Flood Life Group)
+ be able to sign Flood’s Integrity Statement

While we value everyone’s passion to serve and impact others, we first want to see you being impacted through your involvement with Christ’s community, such that your desire to impact the world results from active growth within the community of church. How Do I Start an Impact Team?

The process for starting an Impact Team is simple. First, download the Impact Team Proposal, and Flood’s Integrity Statement. Once completed, you will mail or email the proposal to a Flood Staff member who will then follow up with you to discuss your ideas. Once approved by Flood staff, you will be unleashed to impact the world with Flood Church! You will be given access to the Flood website to promote service opportunities sponsored by your team and receive leadership training and support from Flood’s Impact Staff. While the activities of your team are largely decided upon by your specific vision and goals, our Impact Director will communicate to you opportunities to participate in occasional large-scale events organized by Flood Staff.
