What is Season of Service?

In 2010 hundreds of churches in San Diego will partner together to impact the city of San Diego in an initiative called Season of Service. This is an opportunity for churches to come together and not only talk about what we stand for but also to live it out. During this season, churches all across the city will engage in intentional acts of service, targeting San Diego's greatest areas of need.

At Flood, the Season of Service will kick-off on April 10th with Shine Day (click here to register), our annual 'spring clean,' and will culminate with San Diego CityFest, a city-wide celebration to be held by this partnership of churches on September 11th and 12th at Mission Bay.

Why are we a part of it?

Most churches have been serving the city of San Diego in different ways over the years. However, Season of Service provides us with a unique opportunity to maximize our impact as we, together, tackle five of the city’s greatest areas of need. This not only helps us serve the city in the best way possible but it also presents us with a historic opportunity to serve alongside other churches, unifying the body of Christ in San Diego.

What are we asking you to do?

In light of this season, we are asking you to do three things: to PRAY, to GIVE, and to SERVE.

1.PRAY:

We realize that the needs of our city are more than physical, so we are asking you to pray that people will encounter God through our proclamation and living out of the gospel.

If you have a heart for our city, these Season of Service initiatives, and a desire to see God transform our city through this season, check out the Season of Service Prayer Opportunities offered through the Flood Prayer Group, which meets once a month. We will be praying for the Flood leaders and teams who are leading our Season of Service initiatives. For dates and details, click here.

San Diego CityFest is almost hear! The culminating celebration for Season of Service will be on September 11th. Click here to download the CityFest Daily Prayer Calendar outlining how you can specifically pray for the San Diego CityFest over the next month. Interested in prayer counseling at the event? 2. GIVE:

The goals we have set are ambitious and require significant resources. Because of this, we ask that you would consider giving towards the initiatives we are pursuing together, so that none of the Season of Service goals go unmet. Our financial goal of $10,000 will make the following initiatives possible:

+ The Fripple Games (free kids' sports camp & Linda Vista outreach)
+ San Diego CityFest (the culminating event)
+ Tutoring program at Kearny High School (led by Flood volunteers)

We are two-thirds of the way to our goal. To give towards Season of Service:

+ Give online at DIVEintoFLOOD.com/give
+ Drop off an envelope at the Welcome Tent on Sundays
+ Mail cash or check to the Flood Offices:

Flood Church
ATTN: Mawi Patten
3878 Ruffin Rd, Suite B

3. SERVE:

Along with praying and giving, we ask that you commit to serving in one of the many areas we have available to you during this season. Our desire is that you will be a part of this historic movement taking place in our city.

There is a wide array of areas to serve! Additional service opportunities will become available throughout the Season of Service. Check back at this web page, the Impact Blog, or watch the Sunday flyer.
